Sixteen-year-old Sophie Bloom wishes she’d been taught the following:

a) Bad boy’s presence (TrOuBlE) + teen girl’s brain (DraMa) = TrAuMa (Highly unstable and very volatile.)

b) The Genus Greekulum Godissimus is notable for three traits: 1) awesome abilities, 2) grudges, and 3) hook-ups, break-ups, and in-fighting that puts cable to shame.

Prior to the Halloween dance, Sophie figures her worst problems involve adolescent theatrics, bitchy teen yoga girls, and being on probation at her boarding school for mouthy behaviour. Then she meets bad boy Kai and gets the kiss that rocks her world.

Literally.

This breath stealing lip lock reawakens Sophie’s true identity: Persephone, Goddess of Spring. She’s key to saving humanity in the war between the Underworld and Olympus, target numero uno of Hades and Zeus, and totally screwed.

Plus there’s also the little issue that Sophie’s last memory as Persephone was just before someone tried to murder her.

Big picture: master her powers, get her memories back, defeat Persephone’s would be assassin, and save the world. Also, sneak into the Underworld to retrieve stolen property, battle the minions of Hades and Zeus, outwit psycho nymphs, slay a dragon, rescue a classmate, keep from getting her butt expelled from the one place designed to keep her safe …

… and stop kissing Kai, Prince of the Underworld.

Reading the blurb, I had to read this series, it sounded brilliant and that first impression was entirely correct, even if the story was not at all what I expected, hell I don't even know what I expected but this novel seriously beats anything you could imagine.

Sophie is just trying to get through high school while waiting for her life to start. She has to with evil yoga girls, school dramas and a less than stellar school record. Well, that is, at least until a prank goes surprisingly awry, stating with a lip-lock session with a sexy stranger Kai.
Turns out that Kai is not such a stranger, also Sophie is no average teenage girl - she's Persephone, Goddess of Spring. And this is when her real problems begin...

Zues and Hades aren't too happy that she's alive. Why? Well, she's supposed to save humanity, that's why. Sound simple enough? Well, that's only because you haven't yet heard about the evil minions, or the various other psychotic mythological beings, or your garden-variety narcissistic teen yoga girl...

Throw in a damned sexy deity (Prince of Hades, Kai), and this is WAY better than anything on TV.

This story surprised me from the very outset, Sophie's ingenuity and stubbornness make for some very interesting ideas. Sophie is ridiculous in the best way possible. Her internal dialogue is insanely hilarious. But she's also strong, kind, insecure and flawed in ways that only the best characters are.

Hannah is definitely best friend material, she keeps Sophie's insanity somewhat grounded but backs her up with a seconds notice. Theo is smart and reserved, but also caring.
Whilst bad-boy Kai is sexy as hell, mysterious and constantly surprising.

None of the characters within this novel are in anyway stereotypes, they are completely original, three-dimensional and know how to get under your skin.
Amazingly well written, My Ex From Hell packs so many punches, it is laugh-out-loud hilarious (so, maybe don't read in too public a place, because you will be laughing - guaranteed) with action galore and a totally new take on the figures of Greek mythology lke you've never seen before!

I swear that the only possible thing you could regret at the end of this novel is not having the sequel on hand and ready to continue with the story!

I rate My Ex From Hell Five out of Five!!!

Sophie Bloom’s junior year has been a bit of a train wreck. After the world’s greatest kiss re-awakened Sophie’s true identity as Persephone (Goddess of Spring and Savior of Humanity), she fought her dragon-lady guidance counselor to the death, navigated mean girl Bethany’s bitchy troublemaking, and dealt with the betrayal of her backstabbing ex, Kai (sexy Prince of Darkness). You’d think a girl could catch a break.

Yeah, right.

With Zeus stepping things up, it’s vital that Sophie retrieve Persephone’s memories and discover the location of the ritual to stop Zeus and Hades. So when Aphrodite strikes a deal that can unlock Sophie’s pre-mortal past, what choice does the teen goddess have but to accept?

The mission: stop media mogul Hermes from turning Bethany into a global mega-celebrity. The catch? Aphrodite partners Sophie and Kai to work together … and treat this suicide mission as a date. Which could work out for Sophie’s plan to force Kai to admit his feelings for her–if she doesn’t kill him first.

Add to that the fact that BFF Theo’s love life and other BFF Hannah’s actual life are in Sophie’s hands, and suddenly being a teenager—even a godlike one—seems a bit like … well, hell. Whatever happened to dinner and a movie?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sophie has been through hell since being awakened as Persephone (even though the politically-correct term is Hades), and life isn't about to start giving her any breaks.

The adventure continues with Zeus working proactively to stop the ritual, the place where it needs to be held is something that Sophie needs to desperately find out by unlocking her memories as Persephone, whilst navigating her way around several new (as in, she hasn't yet made their acquaintance) deities.

Bethany is still the bitchy nemesis, and Sophie has to do Aphrodite and Hermes' bidding as part of her quest to unlocking her memories, part of Aphrodite's instructions include Sophie and Kai going on a date. Sophie quickly decides that she's going to get Kai to fall for her first and learns that dating among deities isn't at all what you might think it would be like...

Showing her usual stubbornness from the very beginning, Sophie answers readers' question  all the while battling on. She has her usual flair for the slightly dramatic, however she had matured a bit. Determination, strength, smarts and powers see her kicking ass and making plenty of scenes.

Hannah and Theo both have interesting new developments occurring throughout the novel, and we get to see a whole new side of Kai (you'll want to read this book for this reason alone - although there are too many benefits to list about reading this book). I loved meeting more of the gods, Festos is now officially one of my favourite characters, being sassy, snarky and well-meaning.

Character dynamics are changing, the interactions taking on different tones, with plenty of revelations in store.  And "aww" moments! This time the stakes seem to be getting ever higher. So, brace yourself for easily as much humour as in book one, dare I say even more action, as well as deeper, sweeter and sexier scenes than ever before.
Prepare yourself for some of the swoon-worthiest and most tender and intimate moments you can come across, along with twists and turns, roller-coastering towards an unbelievable ending.

The best possible sequel, My Date From Hell throws you past the edge of your seat and leaves you craving more of this story and (always) more of these characters who, on thier quest to unlock Persephone's memories, most definitely unlock your heart, etching themselves there - truly unforgettable!

This series is on my favourites list and book three is a reading necessity that I must have as soon as humanly possible!

I rate My Date From Hell Five out of Five!!!
