When Lila and Alex sneak off for a romantic weekend away, Lila’s hoping she’ll finally have a chance to work on Alex’s resolve.

But just as things start heating up news reaches them of a serial killer at loose on the island and it isn’t long before their intimate weekend away is interrupted.

A mind reader, a projector, a protective older brother and a serial killer. One of them is going to find Lila first. She's hoping it's the serial killer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tormenting Lila is about Lila and Alex attempting to get away for a little while, for a bit of romantic alone time but, alas, they still don't have much luck. Whether it be an over protective older brother or a serial killer, one will interrupt them...

A very short story, Tormenting Lila is a quick fix for any and all Lila series addicts who after missing the characters after the end of Losing Lila. You get a nice insight into what the characters have been up to , and are like, after the events of Losing Lila.

I LOVE Suki, she is so completely hilarious, Nate is such a cutie, and Alex, well he's just plain sexy. Lila is her typical self, awesome as ever, as is Jack.

Written as superbly as ever, the only thing I wish was different with Tormenting Lila, was that it was longer - I totally need more of these characters, they 100% hook you.

Another interesting thing about Tormenting Lila is that it also that it gives readers a taste of another of Sarah Alderson's novels and the characters within it, that novel is The Sound, which is intriguing and I definitely something I am dying to read.

Anything by Sarah Alderson is a must-read!

"Now I was older and theoretically more mature"

I rate Tormenting Lila Three and a Half out of Five!

One girl. One guy. One unforgettable night.

Trent's supposed to keep his best friend's sister company on her birthday. He just has to remember the promise he made to himself in college to keep his hands off her. He's not worried until he finds out she wants to stay in. Just the two of them.

Ever since Mara walked into her brother's dorm room freshman year and came face to face with a shirtless Trent, she's known he was The One. She finally has a plan to get him exactly where she wants him. In her bed.

If Mara has her way, she'll get a lot more for her birthday than a Hallmark card…

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, my co-blogger was going through ebooks while logged into my Amazon account and found Teasing Trent for free, so she decided that she should totally add it to my kindle for me... I have to say, I am glad that she did.

Mara's twin brother is serving overseas, and guess who he asked to look after his sister?
His best friend and the guy who his sister happens to have been in love with for several years....

Trent has promised himself to keep his hands off of Mara and thought that hanging out with her on her birthday wouldn't test his resolve too much, at least until she informs him that they're stayin in. Now, throw some yoga into the equation and you're starting to get the right idea.

Mara is tired of waiting around, she's going after what she wants...

Told from both points of view (Mara's and Trent's), you get insight into exactly how each of them feel. Trent is trying to be a good guy and not get it on with his best friend's sister, even though it takes all his strength to resist the temptation. While Mara has loved Trent for so long, but has never had the courage to do anything to let him know how she feels... but she's decided that enough is enough, she's going to get him.

Mara is self-sonscious and has self-esteem issues just like the rest of us, making her incredibly easy to relate to, who hasn't wanted something that they've been afraid to go after?

This story was funny, with interesting, real characters and some sweet, serious and sexy moments, there are a few unexpected ones thrown in too.

A nice (but hot) short read, it won't take much time to get through, but is definitely enjoyable.

"You okay Trent?"
He cleared his throat a few times.
"Wow. You're, uh... really flexible."

I rate Teasing Trent Five out of Five!

Carter Kane is investigating rumored sightings of a monster on Long Island when he runs into something else: a mysterious boy named Percy Jackson. And their meeting isn't exactly friendly. . .

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A giant fist the size of a dishwasher shimmered into existence and slammed Camper Boy into the next county.
I mean I literally punched him out of his shoes.

Rick Riordan is a genius! In this short story, he brings together two of his series - The Kane Chronicle and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Carter Kane is searching around Long Island for something that has been causing magical disturbances, but so has Percy Jackson. Percy and Carter  clash from the start, due to misunderstandings and male egos.

This short story is hilarious, there are knock out punches, giant crocodiles and water fights.
This crossover is amazing in the way it handles two mythologies, two leading characters and so much action, as well as what the implications of such a meeting as that between Carter and Percy could mean.

The Son of Sobek is told from Carter's point of view and will help tide over any readers waiting for the next Rick Riordan novel. You do not necessarily have to have read The Kane Chronicles or Percy Jackson and the Olympians to understand what goes on in this story, but it is best to at least have read one of the series to properly understand the context.

A great way to spend a short amount of time, something you will not regret and that does give avid readers hope about potential future stories.

Camper Boy was sitting nearby in waist-deep water, looking dejected. My magic rope had wrapped round his sword arm, then lashed his hand to the side of his head.

I rate The Son of Sobek Five out of Five!!!

A bonus story about Liam and Helena and how they met.

Included in the back of Drake Chronicles Book Five: Blood Moon.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"...angry girls, poor girls, lost girls. Girls like her."

Set in Violet Hill in 1983, Lost Girls begins with Helena kicking ass (which is something she is very well known for in the Drake Chronicles series). Helena is sixteen and well used to watching her back, but now, she has a psychotic vampire after her, wanting revenge and the mysteriously gorgeous Liam Drake hanging around. Girls are going missing and Helena knows that the vampires are behind the disappearances, but where does Liam fit in with it all?
Liam is as sexy as Helena is fierce.  Helena is very much one to look after people she sees as be weaker or less capable than herself. This amazing story really does feed the Drake addiction and explain several things, but how I wish there was more!
This novella show inner strength,  compassion and how no matter how bad things are people will always look out for each other, even putting their life on the line.
This gritty novella reveals how the characters were all first introduced, and elaborates on their history, it really is amazing to learn how things all came together to be as they are in My Love Lies Bleeding and the rest of the Drake Chronicles books.

"He was a vampire, cloaked in mystery and solitude, and as moody as a fourteen-year-old girl with PMS."

Rosalind Wild thinks it's time for the Helios-Ra to give full membership and recognition to the female descendants of the society-after all, it is 1816 and it's time to make room for new traditions. When Rosalind interrupts a plot to assassinate the leader of the Helios-Ra, she sees an opportunity to prove her worth. But she never expected the assassin to be someone so irresistible, and off-limits. Written as a series of letters to a close confidante, this exciting e-novella gives a glimpse of the early days of the vampire hunting society as seen through the eyes of Hunter Wild's feisty ancestor

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This short Drake Chronicles story is full of mystery and romance, and draws funny parallels with the third Drake Chronicle instalment, Out for Blood. Written in the form of letters, the writing style is enjoyable and funny.

Featuring Hunter's ancestor, Rosalind Wild, who is writing letters to her friend Evangeline, Rosalind commences in a theatrical tone to explain the goings on in her life. She talks about being a debutante before remarking about joining the Helios-Ra and how she finds difficulty in hiding stakes and crossbows properly on her person.

Rosalind is funny in her commentary, but also very desperate to prove that she can be useful to the League by fighting vampires. To successfully try to fight vampires, Rosalind comes up with an alter ego so as to raise fewer questions about how a proper young lady should be behaving. What she finds when she does finally come across a vampire, is no at all what she expected. Rosalind finds that the League has been lying to her which leads to the conducting of an investigation as she is desperate to find out the truth.

Historical, romantic and full of lies and twists and secrets, Corsets and Crossbows is a great read if you wish to visit the world of the Drakes and those who hunt them. Time consuming, this novella is not, you can read it easily and quickly while 100% enjoying every second of it. Corsets and Crossbows does not spoil anything in the Drake Chronicle series.

“I pulled open my window and leaned out. “Are you daft?” I whispered loudly.
He bowed extravagantly, deeply, his dark tousled hair falling over his brow. “Such poetry, my lady.”

I rate Corsets and Crossbows Five out of Five!!!

Heart-stopping and electric, MILA 2.0: Origins: The Fire contains a short prequel story and an excerpt to MILA 2.0, the first book in a riveting Bourne Identity–style trilogy by Debra Driza.

Mila can't remember anything before the fire that took her father's life. It's normal to have some memory loss after traumatic events, but Mila doesn't remember if she's ever learned to ride a bike, or if she's ever been in love. Nothing.

What she doesn't know is that she isn't supposed to remember—that she was built in a computer science lab and programmed to forget. Because if she remembers, she might discover her true identity.

The question is: If she relived the fire, what would she see

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I decided to check out Origins: The Fire because I'd heard a lot of mention of MILA 2.0 and what better way to see if you like an authors writing style, than to read a short story by that very author, especially if it links in with the story you wish to read?!

Despite the fact that The Fire was incredibly short, it gave enough information and revealed enough about the main character Mila to make you want to read MILA 2.0 by showing a bit about her value and the kind of person she is, and the information given in this story is what kind of novel the first book in the series will be.

Origins: The Fire was chilling in its descriptiveness and mysterious in the abrupt ending. I definitely want to check out MILA 2.0 and I recommend anyone thing of doing the same to read this short story first, it only take a few minutes to read all of, plus there is an intriguing excerpt of MILA 2.0 that isdown right amazing. NEED BOOK NOW!!!
Oh, and I definitely want to find out more about Hunter, who is introduced in the excerpt...

Origins: The Fire is the prequel to MILA 2.0

(Description from Goodreads)
Mila 2.0 is the first book in an electrifying sci-fi thriller series about a teenage girl who discovers that she is an experiment in artificial intelligence.

Now she has no choice but to run—from the dangerous operatives who want her terminated because she knows too much and from a mysterious group that wants to capture her alive and unlock her advanced technology. However, what Mila’s becoming is beyond anyone’s imagination, including her own, and it just might save her life.
