Quirky and clumsy twenty-two-year-old Paige Crawford arrives in London on a cold Saturday in January. Just when Paige starts to think that moving thousands of miles away from home with no real plan was a bad idea, Jason Frost appears. Confident and classy, Jason is the complete opposite of Paige and just what she needs in her life, or so she thinks.

But before their romance has time to blossom, Paige trips and falls into the arms of a mysterious man on a drunken night out. She’s snapped by paparazzi, and newspaper headlines the next day suggest that she’s having an affair with a married footballer.

Paige finds herself instantly elevated to tabloid celebrity status which isn’t exactly a picnic, particularly when trying to juggle her new job at Fashionista magazine, a catalog of dating disasters and a nagging doubt that she maybe she can’t conquer London after all.

When a trip back to Canada for Christmas reminds Paige why she left her old life behind, she returns to London with renewed vigor realizing that while jobs, flats and men may come and go, friends in London are forever.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paige Crawford is twenty-two and has just up and moved from Canada to England, and is hoping to build up an amazing new life.
Things don't exactly go to plan, however, when she trips out of a club and is saved by a famous soccer player. Photos of this incident inspire rumours that Paige is having an affair with the married footballer, and propel her into the limelight...

Paige is not very lucky, especially when it comes to guys, she really doesn't have the greatest taste - Jason, for example, is an arrogant user who you somewhat would like to punch.

Paige was funny to begin with, though the pacing of her thoughts is at almost break-neck speed. Some cultural misunderstandings (Paige doesn't always understand European meanings) missed the mark for me.

The pace is too fast, Paige asks her self too many questions (constantly), and there is no real emotion shown.
This story was also told in a way that did not make for an enjoyable reading experience for me, with some parts of the narration being somewhat disturbing, and explained.

The best part of the novel (of what I read) is Paige's friendship with Lucinda, Lucinda is sweet to her from the get-go and treats her as a real friend would.

I liked the very beginning of The Accidental Socialite, but the reading experience for me quickly spiraled downwards - I won't be finishing this novel.

New! From Bloomsbury Spark, a sunny heartwarming story of discovery and sisterhood.

A road trip. A singing competition. And super-hot cowboys.

What could be better?

For Charlie, a post-high school road trip isn't just a vacation, it's life changing. While her parents think she's helping a friend move, a chance at fame is the real reason to grab her best friends and drive to L.A. But when her super annoying, uber-responsible, younger sister, Lucy, has to tag along, it isn't quite the summer of fun she imagined.

Add in a detour to her grandparents' ranch in Texas, and between mucking the stalls, down-home cookin’, and drool worthy ranch hands, this could just turn into the best, and most complicated, summer of their lives.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just read the synopsis for Road to Somewhere and you'll see that this books sounds unbelievably amazing, well I can safely say that it is just that good.

Charlie is just out of high school and has a great road trip planned with her friends, the only conditions that allow her to go: her sister Lucy must tag along, and they have to stop over at their grandparent's ranch.
However, there's more to this road trip than Charlie told her parents, like a major singing competition.

People will change and plans will go awry as these sisters start to reconnect...

Charlie is a more-than-slightly cynical girl who loves to sing, though feels like she's rarely heard when she talks. She's good at putting on a confident front, but worries about the future. Lucy is a couple of years younger than Charlie and is extremely timid and shy, always trying to go along with what other want, and constantly under-estimating herself.

Charlie and Lucy are out of touch with one another, and hold many misconceptions about how the other is, how they think and what they feel. As they story goes on, it is amazing to see how the sisters reconnect with one another, staring with small moments as they get to know each other again bit by little bit.

Charlie's negativity and Lucy's insecurities do get a little annoying, but they are easy to understand and are essential to the characters' development. The girls grow in huge amounts as characters and really, truly come into their own.

Road to Somewhere is narrated, in alternating chapters, by Charlie and Lucy, with more information being revealed every chapter. Jenny and Kelley writes their characters incredibly well, each having their own distinct personality, this story is captivating and keeps you wanting to find out what happens to these characters next, you empathize with their troubles, are happy as they learn and succeed and come into their own, and swoon and laugh at the very many funny and gorgeously sweet moments.

Road to Somewhere is most definitely a book to be read and I absolutely recommend it!

I rate Road to Somewhere Four and a Half out of Five!!!

Seventeen-year-old Mitzi and Deuce can recall how many drops of water were on a leaf from a rainstorm five years ago and conversations from last week, month, or year. They have the ability to remember every second of everyday—since birth.

This gift has blessed Mitzi with a history of being sexually assaulted by researchers and abused by her own parents. She trusts no one. Likes no one. Deuce, however, is a high school standout. His gift has made him a superstar on the football field and his memory promises him endless opportunities.

When they both end up at an Alzheimer’s research facility under false proviso, they quickly realize this place isn’t what it seems to be. They endure crazy military-style tests, are forcefully drugged, and complete real-life simulations that haunt them.

Mitzi and Deuce have no idea what the researchers want to do with them or their memories. But one thing is clear: the researchers will go to any lengths to get what they want.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Peaceful Genocide sounded so intriguing just going from the blurb which translates well as a representation of the story - you will want to know what is happening once you start reading.

Mitzi has been a part of many a research study as a result of her extraordinary memory - her ability to recall everything she has ever seen or experienced in her life, in detail, this "gift" has lead to nothing but trouble and mistrust for her. She does not want to be a part of yet another study.

Whereas Deuce's capabilities with his memory have helped achieve so much in his life that he can see it resulting in no harm, and he's happy to join a study of his memory to help cure Alzheimers.

This study is strange though, and they are only just beginning to find out how strange it is...

Peaceful Genocide is told mainly from Mitzi's point of view, interspersed along the way with Deuce's view point, giving extra insight into what is happening and how the story seems to be progressing.

Mitzi has been used and abused so much in her life that her first instinct is to shy away from people and definitely not trust them. She has inner strength and compassion, while she is also intelligent, determined and feisty.

Deuce is a decent guy, he's smart enough, very athletic, and generally trusting. He's prefers to believe things are innocent and honest, however, he does look out for other as best he can.
Paisley is adorably loyal and energetic, while you kind of want to give Ralph a hug.

Peaceful Genocide does start out a little confusingly, but the confusion clears up quickly, only lasting the first page and a bit. Mystery and suspence are a seemingly inherent part of the story, building up suspicions in your mind from the get-go and hooking you to finding out what is going on.

This story is fast-paced and well plotted, giving readers clue as to what might be happening, while keeping the answers slightly elusive until the right time.

The characters are believable in their personalities as are the relationships that develop, while the story-line is clearly thought out and incredibly clever, somethings that happen in this story prey upon your fears, making you concerned for the main characters and hoping for the best for them.

Peaceful Genocide is a truly fascinating read!

I rate Peaceful Genocide Four out of Five!!

3 Rules Against Cyberstalking:

1. Don't accept friendship requests from people you've never met.

2. Don't look at their photos.

3. Don't fall in love.

----------

A gripping YA novel for the Facebook generation.

"I love you."

Lilly's heart misses a beat when these words appear on her screen. Okay, she'd love to have a boyfriend, and when Ian sends her a friendship request, she eagerly accepts. He just looks so gorgeous in the pictures. But when she's about to meet him in person, things take a dramatic turn.

Who is Ian really? And how far will he go to get what he wants?

PRAISE for "Cyberstalker":
"Gripping and insidiously convincing, CYBERSTALKER will simultaneously thrill and appal readers, who may start to wonder who might really be on the other end of every Internet conversation." MG Harris, international best-selling author of "The Joshua Files"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cyber Stalker tells the story of fourteen year old Lilly as she discovers that the internet and social media is always just fun and games.

Lilly thinks nothing of it when she accepts a new friend request, and is quite happy to talk to the mysterious Ian, who seems to be taking an interest in her - she might finally get her first boyfriend! But things quickly spiral as she continues to talk to him, they spiral further when she decides to meet him.

What does she really know about Ian? And what, exactly, does he want from her?

Lilly is like any teenager, she wants to be accepted, to have friends and experience a first relationship, and she sees social media as a fun way to interact with others, not realising the potential dangers of the online world before they are upon her.
Emma is Lilly's best friend and someone she is lucky to have looking out for her, Emma is clever and protective of her friends.
Isa and Sophie are a little more outgoing, a bit more experienced and don't always give the best advice, but their hearts are in the right place.

Cyber stalking is a huge issue that isn't often properly considered by teenagers when utilising the net, but Cyber Stalker will bring this issue to the forefront of your thoughts and remind you that it is an issue, an issue that can have very real and very dangerous consequences that aren't always limited to the online world.

Events in the novel are set out in a way that will have the reader wondering if something is really as innocuous as it seems, while details in scenes combine to creep you out whilst remind you that this is something that can actually happen - and does happen.

The pacing of Cyber Stalker is quick and will keep the reader engaged as they wonder what will happen next and hope for the best for Lilly as she navigates her feelings about her circumstances and empathise with her desire for acceptance. Her learning curve is gradual but something that is obvious - especially by the changes in her at the end of the novel.

The different characters in the story express a wide range of reactions to the circumstances presented to them, each authentic and unique to them, but realistic never-the-less - ranging from sympathy to anger, to fear, and always highlighting the importance of being away of what you put up on the internet, and of speaking up when you think something isn't quite right.
It shows how families need to come together in times of strain and how tarrible circumstance can show you just who your real friends are and to never underestimate them.

A very well written novel, Cyber Stalker is definitely very thought provoking and I recommend it to everyone as it covers a very important issue thoroughly!

I rate Cyber Stalker Four and a Half out of Five!

About the Jens Hildebrand:

I’ve always read a lot and started writing when I was ten. Reading and writing have always helped me in my life, and I need both the same way that I need air to breathe. During my time at school I wrote a Sherlock Holmes novel, one horror and two adventure novels, and lots of short stories. My inspirations were Jules Verne, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Stephen King and Ray Bradbury – quite a weird mixture, I know.
My great mentor was my granddad, who was hilariously funny and inspiring. He read all my stuff and was happy for me, and he also found out that in the early 19th century one of our ancestors, Wilhelm Zahn, produced amazing books about the ancient murals in Pompeii and was friends with Goethe. This provided even more inspiration, as did all those late-night films I watched when I was home alone: mostly old B-monster-movies by Jack Arnold (“Tarantula”, “Creature from the Black Lagoon”), “The Thing from Another World”, and John Carpenter’s “The Fog”.
Our old house always creaked and cracked, and that didn’t help. Well, it sure got my imagination going…
Later, while studying at uni I started producing computer software, for example the first language learning software on CD, and guidebooks for teachers about the new media, like the first didactical treatment of teaching film analysis.
On my way to school one morning I came up with the idea for “Granny
Gertrude”, which then led to the stories about Tom and “TEAM 002″. I’ve always been a great fan of James Bond, and it’s kind of funny that there even is a Bond story titled “The Hildebrand-Rarity”, which was used as a source for the Bond film “Licence to kill” (1989). So it’s only logical for Tom, the hero of my secret agent thrillers, to admire James Bond. The idea for “Cyberstalker” came about during my work as leader of our team for crisis intervention. It’s more grounded in reality than you would like to know.
I love England, first and foremost our English friends and Dartmoor, where Sherlock Holmes chased the “Hound of the Baskervilles”. The small village of Postbridge has become our second home, and we love exploring the area and sitting round the fireplace, chatting with friends.
At our school, I currently hold the post of Deputy Headmaster. I also coordinate our crisis & counseling team. We endeavour to help our pupils, mostly to make them resilient against bullying, cyberbullying, cyberstalking etc. What’s most important job is creating a good atmosphere at school. We also work within a great network of partners such as other schools and counseling centres.

There are no secrets

Sixteen-year-old Tyler believed that his extra-sensory powers were a secret, but when his twin brother, Toby, is kidnapped by a covert government agency, he realizes that he has no secrets, and he has nowhere to hide.

He’s not alone

Now, to save himself and rescue his brother, Tyler must call upon the help of four strangers. Unknown to each other, Eddie, Liliana, Grace, and Sarah share a common bond. They are Indigo Children. With extra-sensory powers of their own, they must unite with Tyler to maintain their freedom.

Unexpected romance

They’re on the run. They’re on a mission. Romance is a distraction that Tyler can’t afford. But sometimes, the heart has a mind of its own.

Time is running out

Will they find Toby before the agency finds them first? Find out in Indigo Incite, Book One of the Indigo Trilogy.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Indigo Incite begins by introducing us to twins Tyler and Toby - boys who possess extraordinary abilities. When Toby is kidnapped because of these abilities, Tyler must finds others who are about to be similarly targeted, and band together to find his brother.
However, they are surprises to be found along the way...

Each chapter is told from a different view point and really helps to introduce different characters in a way that let's us readers get to know them uniquely, before they are fully integrated into the story.

Each character is well-rounded and vastly differ from one another aside from their special talents. The interactions between Tyler and Toby are my favourite as their brotherly bond transgresses the page.
The banter between characters will have a smile crossing your lips more than once!

The writing of this story is simplistic, yet holds enough detail and intrigue to keep one reading. The abilities of the characters span a range of things, the travelling the characters undertook gave the story a certain charm, while wondering why Toby was taken and who were after them kept the story moving at a decent pace.

An interesting story that has been uniquely executed, Indigo Incite is both complex and simplistic at the same time, in a manner that works  well - a very enjoyable read!

I rate Indigo Incite Four out of Five!!!

Seventeen-year-old Lacey Kind doesn’t have the guts to talk to cute boys, isn’t a size two, and would rather stay home and listen to music than go to a party. But in the summer before her first year of college, she ends up thousands of miles away from home, in the back of a tour bus, underneath the half-naked body of the hottest teen rock star in the country.

When Lacey and her best friend Trina sneak into a Boston nightclub to see their favorite band, they not only get to watch their rock gods perform for the first time, but score a chance to meet the band too. Lacey’s heart races as she comes face-to-face with her idol, nineteen-year-old lead singer, Logan Shire.

The girls charm their way into being hired to sell merchandise on Lansdowne’s first summer tour. As “merch girls” Lacey and Trina quickly find themselves transported from their ordinary, suburban life to an exhilarating few months on the road. But they soon realize that life on the road isn’t always a smooth ride...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reading the description for this novel I was almost drooling: sexy rockstars, yes please!

Lacey and her best friend Trina have no clue that sneaking into a club to see their favourite band is going to get them a one way ticket to having the most extraordinary summer of their lives.
Meeting the band is just the start, Lacey and Trina are offered jobs as the bands "Merch Girls," selling merchandise at every stop on the tour, saving money for college, and getting to spend time with the band, but things don't quite go smoothly as they quickly find out...

Lacey is a shy girl who has never had a boyfriend and is constantly under-minding and doubting herself, she is likable and easy enough to relate to. I found her negativity and tendency to put herself down to be a bit annoying, same with the way she could be quite judging of others, however, she grew up a lot and learned more as the story progressed. She came into her own and opened her eyes a lot, while getting over some of her hang-ups.

Trina was mostly likable, she played the part of the best friend amazingly and could be so easy to relate to, although she could also be slightly hypocritical and judgmental.
Logan is gorgeous, down to earth, and kind - definitely book boyfriend material!

I enjoyed this novel most in the second half, when Lacey had undergone some character development and when I got to witness more of Lacey's interactions with other characters, rather than simply being told what happened. The interractions between characters were realistic and sweet - there were several dramas throughout the novel that kept the plot moving and made me crave the sweeter moments all the more.

I loved the entire ending of this novel - Merch Girl conclusion was perfectly written in a realistic manner than will leave readers very happy indeed.

The banter in this story, along with the romance were my favourite aspect of this novel and kept me entertained and swooning - a thoroughly enjoyable read overall - Rebecca Lewis knows her stuff!

I rate Merch Girl Four out of Five!!!
