Lost in a world full of monstrous fairies, a troubled sixteen year old has to find out who she is and why her memories were stolen before she is found by those who want her dead.

She takes the name "Memory" and knows she has just one goal - to find her way home, wherever that is. But this land is strange. No technology to be seen, and iron is banned, thanks to a pact the humans have with the magical creatures who share their pre-industrial era world. In her t-shirt and torn jeans, Memory knows she's different, even before she performs impossible magic.

Haunted by her past, chased by a dragon, wanted by the king and stalked by the strange, handsome savage that seems to know her, everyone is after Memory, and she suspects it's not just for her eye-catching outfit. Her forgotten past holds dangerous secrets that will challenge everything she believes and risk the lives of everyone she loves.

Memory's Wake contains over 45 illustrations by the author and artist.

I really love the cover for Memory's Wake, it's amazing, as is all the artwork included within the novels pages.

A girl awakes on a forest floor with no memory at all of who she is, what her past consisted of, or how she ended up where she is. Ironically taking the name 'Memory', she finds herself lost in a world where phones do not exist, but magic is very real. Chased by hunters, a dragon, and followed by a savage, she has to stay off the King's radar as she follows Eloryn, the only somewhat friendly face she meets, on a journey.

Memory wants to remember who she is and how she came to be this way, whilst eluding her enemies...

Memory is an interesting character, with no memory she has to figure out what kind of person she is through how she reacts to everything she is confronted with which isn't easy, she's naturally mistrustful of people and a little bit cynical.
Eloryn, in contrast, is very innocent and has led a relatively easy life and seems to be treasured by those she and Memory meet. Roen is brave, good and hopeful, and determined in his roles.

Memory's Wake is told from several view points that fill you, intermittently, in with the different characters feeling and perspective, which gives you greater insight whilst also shrouding the thoughts, actions and words of the other characters in mystery.

Memory's Wake is definitely a very visual novel, not only are there very gorgeous illustrations dispersed throughout, which really help you to see the characters as they are supposed to be seen, the writing style is full of beautifully descriptive language so that even on the pages where there are no illustrations, you can still picture in your mind what is happening.

I feel really sorry for Memory, she's always left at least slightly in the dark, and never seems to be really, truly appreciated by any of the other characters. I really did not like the fae, their actions really irritated me.
You never quite know what is around the corner or exactly how everything is going to tie in together, keeping you wondering.

Abundant with mystery and magic, there are also plenty of action scenes within Memory's Wake as well, along with intrigue, deceit, betrayals, shocking revelations and more.
Most definitely a very intriguing novel that is both beautifully written and beautifully illustrated, not to mention enjoyable.

I rate Memory's Wake Four out of Five!!!
